Trying to Conceive
Getting serious about getting pregnant also means to take a long and good look at your body. Traditional Chinese Medicine and other traditional medicine paths recommend spending a minimum of three months preparing your body for pregnancy. This means not only proper nutrition, self-care, and movement but also taking supplements such as Folate.
Why three months you might be asking? That’s about how long it takes to see changes in egg quality. When you try to conceive, you want the healthiest eggs and your body to be in the best possible shape physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This actually has an effect on how you will recover in postpartum so we are talking the whole thing from the wish to have a baby, throughout pregnancy and even after having your baby.
Preparing for pregnancy means to check your diet, sleep, movement, and mindset. To start off you might want to get a full physical from your primary care physician, as well as see your dentist. I find it super helpful to do a blood check to see how your vitamin levels are, too. This helps you to see where you might need some extra support.
I strongly recommend looking into some resources to help you create a fertility plan 90 days ahead of starting your journey to baby. The resources below are tested by a lot of my clients with lots of great feedback and I am happy to pass them on to you. Please note, I do not make money off anything I am recommending here from you. Understanding your cycle and womanhood
Two great books I want to recommend that you’ll look at all of your life and through changes in your cycle are:

Monitoring Ovulation for pregnancy (in case you don’t feel like charting your cycle manually)
I have heard a lot of really great things about AVA, a sensor you wear only at night that monitors your body temperature, heartbeat, breath and sleep in order to predict your ovulation and most fertile days to try for a baby. I just started testing it myself and so far I am very happy with the monitoring data.
Red Moon/White Moon cycles
Learn what cycle you are on because the energy behind these carries a very different energetic view on fertility. A White Moon cycle is when a woman bleeds with the new moon and ovulates with the full moon. This is the archetype mother that wants to reproduce. A Red Moon cycle is when a woman bleeds with the full moon and ovulates with the new moon. This is the archetype healer cycle where women birth healing into the world. Castor Oil packs
Doing castor oil packs to support pre-conceptual care is an Oldie but Goldie! Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor oil plant. Nearly 90% off the fatty acids it contains are ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid has been shown to prevent the harmful growth of bacteria, mold, yeasts, and viruses. There you go! A great resource to support your pre-baby-cleanse. You’ll need:
- Cold Pressed Hexane Free Castor Oil
- 100% cotton or flannel fabric 4 layers thick
- Hot water bottle half filled with hot water
- Mason jar for storing flannel sheet between uses

Connecting to your Womb
I am talking about cervical fluids, moon cycles, sexual drive, creative and sensual moods. You really want to get to know your womb before it carries your child and births her into the world. Reawaken the passion. Dance. Love yourself. Make yourself feel all the juicy, wonderful parts of who you are. Reduce stress. I invite you to live more in your creative energy. Paint, journal, make music and connect to that sensual, female, fertile part of yourself.
Minimize your Stress-Response
This is a biggie. Learn to unwind and really find time to calm yourself down. There are some great apps to help you with that. I really love Expectful as it offers guided meditations for fertility, pregnancy, and motherhood. It’s basically your three-in-one package!
